UPDATE: Restoring Our Shoreline, Naturally

  •          Integrated Lakes Management (ILM) broke ground on the 7th of November.  The Village of Round Lake Beach Public Works team provided “in-kind” service installing fiber coir logs and geogrid that was then backfilled with soil to offer a foundation to stabilize the eroding shoreline of the pilot area.  This was followed by installing a specialized, native seed mix, which was then covered with organic matting.
  •          A grant application for a 2017 Phase 2 program to expand the pilot area was prepared and submitted to Lake County Stormwater Management Commission for Fox Valley Watershed by Tim Pasternak, Scott Hilts, and Dave Kilbane, with the guidance and input from ILM’s Keith Gray.   On December 8th, the team learned that it will be awarded a generous grant of $9,873 towards the estimated $31,450 cost of this second phase!
